The short version
Do Date is a front end for your own Notion workspace. Your tasks live in Notion and a copy is cached on your iPhone or iPad so the app works offline. We do not run accounts, we do not have a database of your content, and none of your task data is ever sent to us or to anyone else.
There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party code in the app.
This policy covers the Do Date app. The dodate.net website has its own short website privacy notice.
Who this is from
Do Date is developed by Digital Hindsight Pty Ltd. If you have questions about this policy or about your data, contact app-support@dodate.net.
What the app stores, and where
Everything below is stored on your device. If you use Do Date on more than one device (an iPhone and an iPad, say), each keeps its own copy and its own sign-in. They never sync with each other directly. Each one syncs with Notion.
| What | Where it is kept | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your Notion task content — titles, dates, statuses, project and relation names, and the names of people assigned to your tasks | A local cache on your device, protected by its built-in file encryption | So lists load instantly and the app keeps working with no signal |
| Your Notion credentials — either an access token from “Sign in with Notion” or an integration token you pasted in | The iOS Keychain, marked so it cannot travel out in device backups | To make requests to Notion on your behalf |
| App settings — which database and properties you mapped, your reminder preferences, and when the app last synced | Standard app preferences storage on the device | So you only set the app up once |
| Scheduled reminders — the task title and date for any reminder waiting to fire | Held by iOS on the device until it fires or is cancelled | So a reminder still arrives with the app closed or offline |
A note about device backups
If you back up your iPhone or iPad — to iCloud or to a computer — the app's local cache is included in that backup, in the same way as the data of any other app you have installed. That backup is yours and is governed by Apple's privacy policy, not ours; we have no access to it. Your saved Notion credentials are deliberately excluded and never travel out in a backup.
Notifications
Reminders are optional. If you turn them on, Do Date asks iOS for permission to send notifications, and then schedules them for the tasks you have booked in or that are due.
- They are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device. Do Date does not use push notifications. Nothing is sent to Apple's push servers, there is no device token, and no reminder passes through us.
- A reminder shows the task's title. That means a task name can appear on your lock screen. If you would rather it didn't, iOS can hide notification previews until the device is unlocked — in Settings → Notifications → Show Previews.
- They follow your edits. Reschedule, complete or delete a task and its reminder moves or disappears with it, whether the change happened on this device, in Notion, or on another device.
- They are removed when you stop. Turning reminders off, disconnecting, or deleting the app cancels everything scheduled.
What we do not do
- We do not create an account for you with Do Date, and we hold no user records.
- We do not collect, receive, store, or have any means of reading your tasks.
- The app has no analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or tracking of any kind.
- We do not include third-party SDKs or share data with third parties.
- We do not sell personal information, and we never have.
Where your data travels
The app connects to exactly two places, both over encrypted HTTPS.
1Notion (api.notion.com)
This is where your tasks come from and go back to. Your use of Notion is governed by Notion's own privacy policy. Do Date can only see the pages you chose to share with it.
2Our sign-in helper
If you connect using “Sign in with Notion”, one small step runs on a server we operate. This exists for a technical reason: Notion requires a secret key to complete a sign-in, and that key cannot safely be stored inside an app on your device. The helper holds that key and does nothing else.
- It briefly handles the one-time sign-in code and the renewal token needed to keep you signed in.
- It does not store them, write them to a database, or keep logs of them.
- It never sees your tasks, notes, or any other Notion content — that traffic goes straight from your device to Notion.
The helper runs on Cloudflare, who provide the infrastructure on our behalf and may handle ordinary connection information such as an IP address and a timestamp in the course of serving the request, as any web host does. We do not collect, receive or retain that information.
If you connect using your own Notion integration token instead, this server is not involved at all.
Permissions the app asks for
- Notifications — only if you turn reminders on, and only to show them. See above.
- Background App Refresh — so the app can quietly check Notion for changes.
Do Date does not request access to your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, location, or health data, and it does not use your device advertising identifier.
Your choices and control
- Disconnect at any time. Settings → Disconnect removes your stored credentials and clears the local cache from that device. If you use Do Date on more than one device, disconnect on each one.
- Turn reminders off. Settings → Notifications, or revoke the permission in your device's Settings app. Either cancels everything scheduled.
- Revoke access from Notion's side. In Notion, open your settings and remove Do Date's access. This works whether or not the app is installed, and it cuts off every device at once.
- Delete the app. Removing Do Date deletes the local cache, its Keychain entries and any scheduled reminders along with it.
- Your Notion content is yours. Because we hold no copy of it, requests to access, correct, export, or erase that content are handled directly by Notion as the data controller.
Deleting the app or disconnecting does not delete anything in Notion — your tasks stay exactly where they are.
Data retention
Cached tasks stay on your device until they change in Notion, until you disconnect, or until you delete the app. Completed tasks remain visible for the rest of the day and are then cleared from the local cache. Scheduled reminders are held by iOS until they fire or are cancelled. We retain nothing, because we receive nothing.
Children
Do Date is a productivity tool intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the “last updated” date above will change with it, and material changes will be noted in the app's release notes. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
